Clintonville woman charged in Internet sex case

WAUPACA ? A Clintonville mother of two was formally charged Tuesday in Waupaca County Circuit Court with six felony charges for allegedly facilitating her 14-year-old daughter?s Internet affairs. The 47-year-old woman was charged with four counts of exposing a child to harmful materials, failure to protect a child and sexual exploitation of a child.
The charges carry a maximum of 39 years in prison and extended supervision.
Waupaca County Circuit Judge Philp Kirk placed the woman under a signature bond and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Nov. 11.
The 14-year-old girl and her 11-year-old brother have been placed into the custody of Children?s Protective Services of the Waupaca County Department of Health and Human Services.
According to the criminal complaint, between June 1 and Aug. 7 the woman and her daughter used a computer to send explicit photos of themselves over the Internet and also viewed explicit photos of men.
During the same period, two men came to Clintonville ? one from New York State and another from Janesville ? allegedly to meet the 14-year-old for sex.
Both men were arrested.
The Post-Crescent is not naming the woman in order to protect the identity of the victim.
