Two 11-year-old boys face sex assault charges

COVINGTON, GA (AP) -- Two 11-year-old boys face rape and child molestation charges, after a woman reported they had inappropriate contact with her 8-year-old daughter.
One of the boys already has been formally charged and is being held at the Athens Youth Detention Center, authorities said. Similar charges are expected to be filed against the other boy, who is in the custody of the Department of Family and Children Services in Alabama, where he lives.
The girl was brought to the hospital on Dec. 13 with injuries she claimed she got from falling on a log outside her home. The girl later told her mother that she was actually fondled, according to the police report.
"The details are still sketchy, and there's an ongoing investigation," said Lt. Marty Roberts of the Newton County Sheriff's Office. "This is a bad case, one of the worst I've ever seen."
The district attorney's office also confirmed that two more boys, ages 14 and 15, also are being investigated in the incident. All identities have been withheld because of their ages.
