14 year old teen girls raped at house party

ALAMEDA -- It was a house party that was never supposed to happen.
But what happened July 17 at a party on Bay Farm Island is now the subject of a criminal investigation involving more than a dozen local teenagers, two of whom, police said Tuesday, likely will be charged in connection with the rape of a 14-year-old girl.

It was a teenage plan that "went sideways," Alameda Police Sgt. Jon Westmoreland said of the house party thrown while the homeowners were away. Two teenage girls had covertly swapped house keys before their families left on summer vacations last month, authorities said.
"It was a go-in-and-use-the-house-and-just-be-cool" kind of thing, Westmoreland said.
But when one of the teenagers followed through, throwing a party at her friend's house while the family was away in the Philippines, things quickly got out of hand.
The young guests smashed pottery, and kicked in doors, walls and a big-screen TV. They poured A1 Steak Sauce on the family's beige couches and carpet, even squirting it into stereo components, police said.
"Every room was trashed," Westmoreland said.
What the teenagers couldn't destroy, they stole, he said, including thousands of dollars of stereo equipment, DVDs and video games.
A family friend discovered the youths in the house after midnight July 17 and called officers, Westmoreland said.
When police arrived at 12:30 a.m., dozens of kids scattered, and police found the 14-year-old girl passed out and naked in a bedroom upstairs, her blood-alcohol content at a poisonous level, Westmoreland said.
Police also found a video camera they allege the teenagers used to film the sexual assault of the girl, along with other sex acts among guests.
Police arrested eight teenagers that night, and another five have been arrested since, Westmoreland said.
As many as nine are likely to be charged with some form of trespassing, vandalism and theft, he said. And at least two -- all are juveniles under age 17 -- will be charged with sexually assaulting the girl.
The homeowners recently returned from their trip, and police have not yet gone through the house with them to investigate the extent of the damage, Westmoreland said.
