CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A former St. Albans High School art teacher faces up to 10 years in federal prison for paying a 15-year-old girl to take nude pictures of herself. Larry Pauley of Tornado pleaded guilty on Monday to possession of child pornography.
Pauley, 55, met the girl while teaching art at Hayes Middle School in St. Albans. He paid the girl $50 for the photos last fall, after the girl entered the ninth grade and he took a job at St. Albans High, federal prosecutors said.
Administrators at the high school learned about the arrangement when two students reported that Pauley offered to pay for nude photos of them together.
Pauley was suspended with pay after the allegations surfaced.
He resigned and gave up his teaching certificate a few months later. He had been a teacher in the Kanawha County school system for more than 30 years,
U.S. District Judge John Copenhaver scheduled sentencing for Dec. 8.
