Teen Sex Cop Hangs Himself

January 24, 2005 -- An NYPD lieutenant who was arrested for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old girl was found hanged in his upstate home yesterday morning. The veteran cop, Thomas Carroll, assigned to the 34th Precinct in Washington Heights, was found by his dad in the Harriman home at around 9 a.m.
It was not known if he left a suicide note.
On Friday, Carroll was arrested by State Police and charged with committing a criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child.
Carroll was also suspended from the force pending an investigation into whether he had sex with a 16-year-old girl who lived near him in Orange County.
State cops said they were alerted to the sexual encounters after the teen confessed to her parents she was having an affair with Carroll.
He was arrested at his home on Friday.
