The convicted sex offender who works as a clown at kids parties is upset police put out a warning about him. Marion police issued a special warning about Stanley Johnston after they learned he performs as "Magi" the clown. Johnston was convicted of committing sexual acts with an 11-year-old girl in 1993.
But he says it happened a long time ago and he's just trying to move on. Johnston's website was taken off-line soon after police issued the warning about him. Other area clowns say they're glad because they were pictured with him.
Ron "Toto" Johnson is a clown who had his website created by Johnston. "It is gone, now. I do not want to be associated with this fella. I met him a couple of times and I am sick. It's sick and I want nothing to do with him".
The man who oversees Iowa's sex offender registry says nothing prohibits a sex offender who is no longer on probation or other court-ordered restrictions from choosing a career that involves children.
